reasons

When I was 12 I was given the opportunity to go to Israel with my family and be a part of my cousins’ bar-mitzvah at the Jerusalem wall of prayers.  At 12 years old I was not aware of all of life’s trials and tribulations. I was fortunate enough to live in a kibbutz and experience the everyday lifestyle. Now I am 20 years old and aware of my surroundings and society and the worldly issues that make us who we are.
Furthermore, Israel seems like the country that could offer me stability and realization that not all in life is deserved but hard work to be earned. The simple opportunity to be a part of a community that truly works together to provide simple life necessities.  For instance, cultivating and gathering food for the community to consume or to teach a group of children and adults the English language. To volunteer my time would not only be a great learning prospect but also and truly eye opening experience. To become one with the community to watch and learn and grow as a person and become a better citizen.
I think that Israel and the kibbutz lifestyle would truly mend me to be a better person and learn about respect and responsibility. I plan to embrace the culture and make lifelong friends and if in the end I can affect one person then all my hard work and growth would be well worth leaving all that I know to be true.
